Day 3

The night was about the same last night.  We slept well until about 4-5 then was up for a little while then managed to go back to sleep.  When we woke up, the kids were ready to talk because Ian had to show us how he could ride his bike!  He did so good, we are so proud of him.  They got in the hot tub the night before and he said that is what helped him do so good on his bike ;-)  Today we decided to go over to another market (Namdaemun).  There was an indoor part that we never found but later found out it was closed anyway.  We didn't like this one as much as the market yesterday but that may be because we didn't find the part that I was really looking for.  So, we headed back over to Insadong and bought a few things that we had talked about and decided to get.  In the middle of our walking (trying to find where we were going!), we ran into Sungnyemun Gate which was the gate into the city that was destroyed by arson a while back and rebuilt. 

There is a stream that has sidewalks on either side that Kendon had read about that we wanted to walk down to.  We went to it but decided we wanted to go back there at night because we had heard that it was really pretty at night.  We did decide that could be a pretty good spot for the kids to run off some energy on our return trip.  This tree was in the middle of the stream and if you can't really tell, it is all frozen.  (They leave their Christmas décor up here all winter I was told).

The first part of the day was a clear and decently nice day so we had decided we were going to go up to the N. Seoul Tower at night.  So that is where we headed after the stream.  We got to the closest subway stop and it ended up being quite the hike up to the place where you can take the cable car up, but we eventually found it and made our way up the top.  We ended up being a little bit too early so didn't see the city completely lit up, but we will be sure to be there at that time on our return trip. We did end up getting some pretty good pictures out of it regardless.   We then made the long trek back to our room.  On the way, we got a little turned around and looked like lost tourist, I am sure.  A guy made a comment on Kendon's Ranger hat and proceeded to help us.  He didn't understand much English but he literally ran almost a block to try to figure out where we needed to go before we walked the extra distance.  Very helpful and nice guy, we wished we would have thought to take a picture with him!
